http://www.wfaa.com/sharedcontent/dws/wfaa/latestnews/stories/wfaa090126_wz_winterwx.5c53ba1.html I was thinking about you Deb. wondering if you had to drive in ice. They're saying we're going to have snow and freezing rain today . They closed the schools and day care for Daddy ...Right now it's just raining and temp is 32...it's gotta get a bit colder than that to have snow or freezing rain. If it's not going to snow I'd be just as happy with lots of rain. Forget the ice stuff.

| It was raining this am. I left extra early, cuz they said the ice wouldn't hit till 6 or 7, so I was the first one here. Verified the hotel has wifi. How do I set up a different wifi? I don't know. All you techie peeps, I am letting you know now that I need to know, so you can send me directions and I can do it. Otherwise, Em, I will be calling you and Dan tonight. Unless the partys at the hotel are too much fun. I was ADVISED by my boss that she packed a bottle of brandy. I told her I was concerned about staying with someone, on account of the fact that I snore really loud. Which is NOT a lie. Tim says it is unbearable and sometimes I catch him sleeping on the recliner in the middle of the night. At any rate, I have my OWN room. For the first time in years I will be all alone. OMG! I am so stoked. The hotel is so close I can walk to it if need be, and tomorrow we will be up to 41 degrees, and we will probably get to leave early. So, it is a win-win. | |

| I will be staying in the hotel tonight. The worst is supposed to start this afternoon, thru tomorrow am. I get a day off at my choosing for free! With the wifi, I can bring my laptop anywhere that has free wifi and use my laptop for free. Most hotels have that now, whereas before you would have to pay to use their service. And, tons of restaurants have it as well. A Wii is what Emily has, and basically, it is a super charged jazzed up tv video game, that allows you to interact with it physically, by using remotes. So, when you bowl, you are holding a remote, and you act as if you were bowling, and the game can read what you did. Same with tennis and so forth. The Wii fit is a package that you can use with the Wii (like a new game) It has a pad that you stand on, and it can do a health assessment based on your weight, age, height, etc. It provides you with fitness games, and will give you status reports on your progress. | |

And YOU asked for techie help???? I knew what wifi is, I just don't know the how to's. Like, do you need a chip, module in your laptop to get a signal? I would think so, or something like that. I don't have a laptop soooo....When my folks were visiting 2 years ago they brought the laptop and tried to pick up a signal at my house. No luck, I think Jeff has something on our pc's to block anyone from capturing a signal. Does that make sense? I don't see a laptop in my future so I haven't kept up. Hell, I can't even take a pic on a digital camera. Ask Mable. ha ha! Now that Wii....that I think I would love!

| Have you seen that radar ??? OMG We just got the warning. ...ICE STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST WEDNESDAY... AN ICE STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST WEDNESDAY. FREEZING RAIN FELL THIS MORNING...AND WILL CONTINUE OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS OVER THE NORTHERN HALF OF THE STATE. ANOTHER ROUND WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON...AND CONTINUE INTO THIS EVENING AND THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. SIGNIFICANT ICE ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED...WITH ONE TO TWO INCH ACCUMULATIONS IN SOME AREAS. LATER TONIGHT...TEMPERATURES WILL FALL...WITH SNOW AND SLEET POSSIBLE ACROSS THE AREA. HOWEVER...ICE WILL REMAIN ON AREA ROADWAYS...WITH ALL TRAVEL DANGEROUS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. AN ICE STORM WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF ICE WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS OR IMPOSSIBLE. TRAVEL IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED. HEAVY ICE ACCUMULATIONS WILL LEAD TO WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES Okay, I know about WiFi WiFi is an unsecured internet connection. If you are in the area of that connection your laptop will pick up the signal. Almost all McDonald's, some coffee shops, libraries have a free connection. What do you do ??? Nothing. Turn your laptop on, plug it in or run it on batteries, it will find a connection for you. When we lived in Clinton, Jonathan was picking up the neighbor's connection. When we lived at those apartments, it was hard finding one. All the internet lines were secure. It wasn't until we moved into the house that it worked. I have an unsecured connection right now. I never got around to logging in the password protected thing. I see people's names come up looking for connections. Do I care ??? No. Why not share ??? | |

| Awesome. I couldn't remember if it was easy or not. I don't normally take it places, and the wifi is encrypted at my house and Tims. The freezing drizzle has begun. | |

| OH GOD.
I was reading last night about the hundreds of accidents in Oklahoma. Terrible.
I'm sure the WiFi is that easy.
When Glenn brought home my laptop, he just plugged it in and a box came up saying I was connected. He loaded nothing.
I'll check with Jonathan to be sure but every laptop should be WiFi ready.

Do I care ??? No. Why not share ??? Very Happy The only problem with that is if someone has hacked into your connection, they are using your IP address and if they perhaps threatened to kill the president or downloaded child porn, the police would come looking for you because the IP address would be registered to your address. Just something to think about.......

| Yeah that's true.
I do know who it is. The names and addresses pop up when they are using it. It's been months since I've seen it though.
Maybe I ought to find that protected password.
I'll get Jonathan to do it.

| It is 73 degrees here right now. By tonight it's supposed to fall 40 degrees or more. That is unreal. My head is killing me. My ears are stopped up, my nose is bleeding. I believe the drop in pressure from that approaching front is causing all that. So Deb, what will you be having for dinner tonight ???? Are ya'll gonna order in or is there a place near the hotel where ya'll can go eat ?? Why am I all in your business ??? | |

| There is a sports bar attached to the restaurant. I imagine the selection will be limited and unhealthy. Oh well, I ain't worried. I have a 12 pack of Miller Lite, and a 12 pack of Corona in my car. Not all for me. I actually intend on going to eat, and being social, and then claiming tiredness, since I was up way early, so I can go to my room and just chill. YAY! | |

Is it possible ???
It's now 52 degrees with a light wind.
Take care whatever you do. You sound like you have a good plan though.
I cannot believe the things I'm reading.
Why people risk their lives to wander out in weather like this stuns me silent.
I'm looking at pictures from Oklahoma. The ice is thick covering mailboxes.

| BWAHAHAHA !!! True dat unfortunately. It's now 47 degrees. I broke down and took a benedryl. I hate taking it but the pressure in my head, nose and eyes want relief NOW. I'm sending the boy to the store for me. I have to write down exactly what I need or he will come back with everything but what I need. I thought about printing pictures then decided not to. All kidding aside, I do appreciate him going for me. I'm too buzzed to drive and school's about to let out. Safety first. | |
